Third Grade Newsletter

        June 30, 2010

Dear Parents and Guardians,

This Friday is our last day of school for the summer.  I really enjoyed getting to know your children this summer and I cannot wait for the school year to begin!  Friday I will send home your child’s progress report for the summer.  I will also send home the class supply list and school calendar.

This summer I would like your child to continue to focus on reading for thirty minutes everyday.  I will send home books for your child to read during the break.  I would also like your child to practice memorizing their addition and subtraction facts.  Flash cards would be a quick and easy way to help your child memorize their facts.  You may also want to encourage your child to keep a summer journal.  Your child can continue practicing their writing skills and they will have a lot of material to write about when we return to school in August.

Thursday, July 1, 2010 third graders will be hiking with the first grade.  If you would like to join us you may meet us at school at 8:30.  We should return to school at 11:00.  Your student may be out of uniform but they need to dress for a hike.  Students may also bring a water bottle with them.

Thank you,

Ms. Reeder
